Our winery, Solomone, was established in 2018 and is located in the small town of Chiatura, known for its manganese production in western Georgia, in the region of Zemo Imereti. The winery is named after our grand grand-grandfather, Solomon Lezhava, on whose land our winery now stands. My father, Gulda Chachanidze, was a professional winemaker during the Soviet era and taught me everything I know about winemaking. I started helping him at the age of 9. During the renovation of our house, we discovered four 1200-liter Kvevris in its foundation. Sadly, three of them were ruined, but we still make wine in the fourth one that was found intact. The labels of SOLOMONE wines feature Braille writing as a tribute to my grandfather. Even though he lost his sight in his final years, he could still perfectly sense the smell and taste of the wine. With every sip, he would say, "I've seen enough in my life; just to feel now is far better." SOLOMONE winery has a capacity of 35 000 bottles. Our vineyards cover 3 hectares, with vines aged between 15 and 8 years. We exclusively work with Imeretian grape varieties - Tsitska, Tsolikouri, Krakhuna, Dzelshavi, - to produce high-quality wine, showcasing that Chiatura can excel in winemaking beyond manganese production."
